This dorkass loser carries the bow and quiver around for four whole episodes, uses it ONCE, gets frustrated, and throws the FAMILY HEIRLOOM BOW onto the ground, never to be seen again.
To be fair, Sorsha carries it around for a whole movie and doesn’t even attempt to use it, so this is clearly genetic.
This is the kind of payoff I like to see.
My theory is that Kit has always been terrible at archery but carries the bow because she’s in denial.
She also carries it around because she thinks it just looks really cool. Which it does.
I haven’t even talked about where the hell her quiver may have gone to, that held all of her FOUR ARROWS.
I like to think that she also just yanked that over her head, probably getting caught in her cloak, as they ran for their lives. Just Kit, casually stripping off her accessories during a battle.
Controversial opinion: I think Kit is GREAT at archery!
Their first night on the road they ate possum stew for dinner. Do you stab a possum? No. How did they get the possum? Shot it with a bow and arrow. How many of the party had bows? One and it was Kit.
Can we also note that she’s running as fast as she can (and the episode suggests they’ve been hunted by the Gales like that for a while now), nocking her arrow and then running backwards, quick aiming and shooting and on top of that she would’ve hit her target full center if the Scourge wasn’t able to smack the arrow out of the air.
(Her logistics could use some improvements though.)
Yeah we also see her bow attached to her horse when they ride back to the castle after the very first scene. My headcanon is that she is actually a really good archer and it comes more naturally to her than the sword which is something she loathes a bit because the sword is her connection to both her dad and Jade.
